AI Agents using Document SDK AI Agent Tools

14 Aug 20264 minutes to read

Give any AI agent full control over Word, Excel, PDF, and PowerPoint - no document-processing code required. This page shows the outcomes an AI agent can deliver when it has the Syncfusion Document SDK AI Agent Tools in its toolbox.

The Agent Loop

Every workflow on this page follows the same loop:

  1. User describes the goal in natural language.
  2. Agent picks the right tools and calls them in sequence.
  3. Tools read, edit, convert, or sign the document.
  4. Output is delivered - usually another file, a structured payload, or a confirmation.

Quick Start

You can quickly deploy it to your infrastructure via NuGet, and the full source is on GitHub if you want to extend any tool or register a custom document manager.

Then follow Getting Started to register the document managers and expose the tools to your agent framework.

Real-World Agents

“Load contract.pdf. Redact all PII. Export a compliance-ready PDF.”

Workflow

  1. Load contract.pdf into the agent’s working memory.
  2. Extract text so PII regions (names, Social Security Numbers, addresses, signatures) can be located with bounding-box coordinates.
  3. Redact the detected regions so the original content is permanently covered.
  4. Apply an organization watermark to mark the document as reviewed.
  5. Sign the document using a company certificate.
  6. Export the result as a compliance-ready PDF/A.

Outcome: A redacted, signed, archived PDF ready for legal review - produced without a human opening the file.

Finance Agent - Financial Reporting

“Open revenue.xlsx. Generate charts. Convert to PDF. Distribute the report.”

Workflow

  1. Open revenue.xlsx.
  2. Populate the worksheet with the raw data.
  3. Generate charts and pivot tables from the data.
  4. Apply conditional formatting and validation so anomalies and key values stand out.
  5. Convert the workbook to PDF.
  6. Distribute the board-ready report.

Outcome: A board-ready PDF generated from raw data - no analyst touch-up required.

HR Agent - Onboarding Automation

“Merge employee records. Generate offer letters. Export signed PDFs.”

Workflow

  1. Load the offer-letter template.
  2. Merge employee records into the template so each hire gets a personalized letter.
  3. Convert the merged Word documents to PDF.
  4. Apply organization branding (a watermark) to the PDFs.
  5. Encrypt each PDF with a password so only the intended recipient can open it.
  6. Sign each PDF with a digital signature.

Outcome: A signed offer letter for every new hire, produced in minutes rather than days.

Compliance Agent - Document Compliance

“Scan this document set. Strip sensitive content. Lock it down.”

Workflow

  1. Open the document set - PDFs, Word files, or image scans.
  2. OCR the scanned pages to surface any sensitive content hidden in images.
  3. Extract text so PII, financial data, and restricted terms can be located.
  4. Redact sensitive content so it is permanently removed.
  5. Apply encryption and permissions to lock the document down.
  6. Export the result as PDF/A for long-term archival.

Outcome: A compliant, encrypted archive that meets retention and access policies.

Invoice Processing Agent - Data Extraction

“Read these invoices. Extract totals, line items, and vendors. Export to Excel.”

Workflow

  1. Open the invoice PDFs or scanned images.
  2. Run OCR on image-based invoices so the text is searchable.
  3. Extract structured fields (totals, dates, line items, vendor) into a clean payload.
  4. Create the destination workbook.
  5. Populate the workbook with the extracted data.
  6. Add data-validation rules to flag anomalies.
  7. Export the workbook as Excel, JSON, or PDF for downstream systems.

Outcome: Clean, structured invoice data delivered into ERP, accounting, or analytics systems.

Why an Agent Chooses Syncfusion
